Global Port’s container traffic remains stable

The Russian container terminal operator Global Ports (GLPR) has reported a stable container throughput during the fourth quarter and the fiscal year (FY) 2021.

In particular, Global Port’s consolidated marine container throughput recorded a marginal decline of 0.9% year-on-year, with 385,000 TEU handled in its terminals.

Freeport of Riga sees container traffic downtrend in 2021

The Freeport of Riga has handled 415,600 TEU in 2021, which translates to 4.23 million tonnes of container cargo, reflecting a decrease of 7.8% over 2020 in box volumes.

This number, however, represents 20% of all the cargo handled at the Port of Riga during 2021, according to a statement.

The Latvian port explained this drop by the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global logistic chains, “restricting the return to the previous volume.”

Port of Long Beach sets new annual volume record in 2021

The Port of Long Beach (POLB) has achieved a new record in 2021 by handling container volumes of more than 9.38 million TEU amid a historic import surge, induced by the Covid-19 pandemic.
