heerema walstroom

Heerema and the Port of Rotterdam Authority are proud to announce that Heerema Marine Contractors’ largest crane vessels, Sleipnir and Thialf have officially switched from using their engines to using shore power.

The successful commissioning of the shore power project is the result of a partnership between Eneco, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and Heerema with the support of the Gemeente Rotterdam. There is a global demand to reduce our impact on the planet and the partners involved in the...

World’s Most Sustainable SSCV “Sleipnir” Breaks Own Record With 10100 mT Jacket Lift

SLEIPNIR BRENT ALPHA REMOVAL 002

Heerema’s SSCV Sleipnir has safely and sustainably removed Shell’s 10100 mT Brent Alpha jacket. This single jacket lift breaks Sleipnir’s recent record for lifting the 8100 mT Jotun-B jacket.

This project is Sleipnir’s fourth decommissioning job for this summer. The vessel will continue to be busy in the North Sea before swapping the largest lifts for one of the smallest with the installation of Dana Petroleum’s P11-Unity Platform later this year.

So far, Sleipnir has safely removed and...

World’s Largest Crane Vessel ‘Sleipnir’ Breaks Records At The Jotun Field

Sleipnir-Breaks-Records-At-The-Jotun-Field

In the Norwegian North Sea, Sleipnir successfully removed the 8100 mT Jotun-B jacket for client Vår Energi. The platform was installed in 1998 by Heerema’s Thialf, who returned to the Jotun Field last year to remove the topsides and conductors – demonstrating the circularity of Heerema’s involvement in the lifecycle of these now retiring platforms.

What we put in, we take out.

For the jacket removal, Sleipnir arrived at the Jotun Field located 200 km west of Stavanger on Friday, July 11, and...
