Major container lines jointly launch Asia – East Coast South America service

Five of the largest ocean carriers are cooperating to introduce a new service connecting important ports in Asia with the East Coast of South America.

In particular, CMA CGM, COSCO, OOCL, Evergreen and PIL will jointly launch the new service on the Asia-Latin America trade in May.

The service will have two separate loops. The first loop will be operated by 12 container ships of up to 14,000 TEU capacity and will commence on 5 May from the port of Tianjin.

CMA CGM increases rates from Asia to Mediterranean

CMA CGM has announced increased Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates from Asia to the Mediterranean, effective from 1 to 14 May (date of loading in the origin ports) until further notice:

CMA CGM announces peak season surcharges from Asia to Africa

CMA CGM has notified its customers about the implementation of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS02) effective from 16 April 2024 (loading date) until further notice.

This surcharge applies to shipments from China to various destinations including Angola, Congo, DRC, Namibia, Gabon, Cameroon, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo, and Equatorial Guinea.

The surcharge rate for dry cargo on these routes is set at US$200 per TEU.

CMA CGM outsources new trans-Pacific service to Atlas Air 

Ocean shipping giant CMA CGM’s startup cargo airline has hired U.S.-based Atlas Air to provide crews for the launch this year of a trans-Pacific route with new Boeing 777 freighters that were not previously disclosed. And it doubled its order for next-generation Airbus A350 freighters later this decade in its effort to develop a global network.

CMA CGM AIR CARGO set to expand with Transpacific route launch in summer

CMA CGM AIR CARGO is set to launch a transpacific route linking Asia to North America in the summer of 2024, signalling a significant advancement in its air freight services.

To facilitate operations to new destinations, the company will take delivery of two Boeing B777-200F aircraft this year. CMA CGM applies new rates from Asia to North Europe

French carrier CMA CGM has announced updated Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates effective from 1 May until further notice.

The origin range encompasses all Asian ports, including Japan, South East Asia and Bangladesh, extending to all North European ports, including the United Kingdom and the entire spectrum from Portugal to Finland and Estonia.

CMA CGM vessel restarts voyage after stalling near New York bridge

One of CMA CGM’s ships has been finally permitted to resume its voyage, after suffering a loss of propulsion just outside the port of New York in the United States.

CMA CGM announces “rate restoration” from North Europe and Med to North America

CMA CGM is implementing Rate Restoration Initiative 4 (RRI04) for shipments from North European and Mediterranean ports destined for the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as inland destinations accessible via these ports.

Commencing 1 May 2024, unless otherwise specified, a Rate Restoration Initiative 4 (RRI04) will be enforced on tariff or service contract rates for all cargo within the scope of this tariff.

The rate adjustments are as follows:
