French shipbuilder Naval Group launched on Friday, July 12, the Suffren nuclear-powered attack submarine, in presence of President Emmanuel Macron. The Suffren is the first of the six Barracuda-class series for the French navy. Its ceremony took place in the northern port of Cherbourg.
According to Naval Group, Suffren is one of the stealthiest submarines globally, while her detection capabilities reassure of acoustic superiority.
Specifically, Suffren is a 99-metre, black steel submarine.
